While it is easy to point to the restrictions and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as a source for this challenge, the epidemic of loneliness predates Covid. Before the pandemic, about one-in-two US adults reported experiencing loneliness. Certainly, the pandemic exacerbated the issue, but it is not its lone cause.</image:caption>

Based on the belief that people are more successful and fulfilled when they focus on their natural abilities and talents, rather than trying to fix their weaknesses, it was a novel change from the current state of the field of psychology.</image:title>
      <image:caption>The field of psychology was focused more on interventions that decreased an individual’s misery or problems before Clifton created this tool. But he saw an opportunity to supplement this traditional science — a way to build the “enabling conditions of life.” Strengths science answers questions about what’s right with people rather than what’s wrong with them.</image:caption>
